Darrell, that's a great rich BRG colour, and a good gloss level already! A fine sand and a clear gloss should bring it up beautifully.

Mark, when you have 4,000 sponsors and cameras everywhere on all sides, that means 8,000 decals at least! Looking good mate, push on.

Cheers, D

Ahh, this thing's got more decals than an F-4 After 4 decaling sessions, I've got juts less than half the decals on. Only one side done so far, still have to do the other side and the wing.

Time to post a few photos.I am a little embarrassed for the quality of the photos. The glare seems to be a killer. I need to build a photo boo this winter, need plans.
This photo shows the masking on

Masking taken off.

Not sure how to polish the paint as it is an acrylic paint from Micheals. May try an automotive clear coat to see how it works. Hope to have it finished by deadline. Outside garden work almost finished as well as other delays, I know excuses, excuses, excuses, excuses.

Note for Damian on the build update - it turns out there are 28 steps, not 26 - the finish it still a distant thought. Not sure 16 days is going to do it.
cheers
Michael

Noted and sorted! I'm sure that given the complexity and detail involved in your build that if you run out of time we can give you some leeway! I really want to see this one completed and in the gallery with the other awesome builds!

While getting the body ready ready for painting, I snuck in Step 22, the headlights. Little builds in there own right, they look impressive, tested fitted here ahead of painting.

Excellent interior Pasi! I didn't know that about Sabelt seatbelts especially since that is a common label for aftermarket belts.

Thanks, and interior is pretty much done:

Kit had seatbelts as decals, but I don't like them, so replaced them with PE. The 240Z is from 1971, but Sabelt was founded on 1972, so there's slight problem... I may fix it by painting over Sabelt logos.

Oil (?) canister looks like plastic. I hope quick wash will fix it.

Damian and Joel, you have created a monster!

Indeed! A huge, noisy, petrol and burnt rubber smelling monster!

I agree, one of the drawbacks of creating such a popular topic for a Group Build is that it becomes difficult to track back to specific posts.

Less than 3 weeks to go folks, we are definitely down to the business end of proceedings now!

Ya know D, one problem with a thread like this is that I have to go back through 48 pages to try and find Joel's tutorial on accurizing tires (tyres down under).

Or to find any specific post

For those still following the long drawn out process of my Porsche, two more steps are completed, 21 and 25. These are the two main body shell parts. 22 to 24 come after painting.
Step 21 - the front. The easiest one of the whole build. Drill the two holes you can see for the coil leads and put on the louvres for the front wheels arches.

The rear was a little more complicated. The hinge mechanism which also includes the rear window will attach to the front shell allowing the rear to open. Well that's the theory. Also added a small pop-up aerofoil at the back and the air vent channels underneath.

This is them test fitted in place. Not all together smooth sailing and some finessing to do to get them to fit. The front also has the doors and front aero dry fitted.

Cheers

I'm a veteran of that. I just "quit" sometimes but I never use the hammer. I always come back hungry for more.

Yes, Mark, we can call it now a race car. Some wheels will work wonders

That's tough Patrick since you had got pretty close. Still, building a car from an era when making the finish line was not always a given, you cab claim some historical accuracy with the breakages

I QUIT!

I need to build something that doesn’t effing break with every new assembly!

It’s either put in the box or get out a sledge hammer?

So the 312T2 is retiring due to mechanical difficulties!
