A friend at work gave me this kit. This is my first adventure in 1/6 scale. I though while I was building I would post info.

This is the kit. The instructions are very basic.

and the parts.

I started with the ammo box. The two halves went together with large seams.

I then started with the rear legs on the stand.

I had quite a bit of seam clean up on these parts as well. While these were drying I worked more on the ammo box.

I still have some filling to do on the box. The box insert is not glued in place yet but I found it handy to help brace the box while I cleaned it up.

There is quite a bit of clean up needed for mold lines but it has been easy to take care of so far. This is much bigger than what I am used to building.

Two questions for those who know. First, is the base left in bare metal steel or is it painted in OD green? Second, is there a way to bend and shape the ammo belt or will I have to separate the links to do this? Any other tips/pointers would be appreciated.

Russ as you already have the pictures there have you considered sending in a review and/or build review to the site? I will admit that I am unsure who would be the staff member to submit this to but I suspect it is James Bella (c5flies), I am sure he would be pleased to hear from you and give you guidance if unsure of what is needed.

I would be happy to do that. I will contact him.

I'm working on this as an actual build review. I will be sending the info to James Bella shortly.

Russ,

From my fading memory, I believe the tripod mount has a parkerized finish the same as the M2 itself. It looks like a semi-flat, dark gray with a hint of OD green and metal highlights. The box image is a fair indication of the color.

The DML Box image also appears to indicate you should be able to slightly bend the "links" or spaces between each round to get some belt drape.

Hope this helps...

Never seen a M2 .50 cal. as a 1/6 kit. Didn't know they existed

Regarding the amo belt. You could put it in hot water. This usually softens it a wee bit and you should be able to carefully bend and shape it.

Hey Jesper, DML has a few offerings in 1/6 model kit form after initially releasing the pieces in finished format for the 1/6 collectors. I believe other offerings are a jeep, kubelwagen, schwimmwagen, 8.8cm Raketenwerfer 43 Puppchen, 2cm FlaK , german radio...many others to come. I think the model kit format will be a nice alternative for those like myself that can't afford to spend the money on a finished piece...especially in regards to the vehicles. Looking forward to the build article Russ, thanks for posting this.

The full review of the kit has been posted, along with build pictures. The ammo belt is fairly flexible if you bend it carefully. I don't have a picture of the belt with the gun as my camera is out of town at the moment, but here is the finished gun.

I'll be sending in a review of the panzerschrek soon.
